INTERSCHOOL ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

Interschool Athletics Carnival

On Tuesday, September 5th, on a pleasant spring day, twenty-seven students participated in the Interschool Athletics Carnival.

The Carnival was held at the 11th Street Old Aero Ovals, at the Little Athletics Sporting Complex.

I would like to thank Mr. McDermott, Mr. Laity and Mr. Hills, for all their help throughout the day.  I would also like to thank Cooper Jones for his help throughout the day.

I would like to congratulate the students who competed on the day for their good behaviour and for giving their events 100% effort.

Highlights for the day were as follows:

• Isabell Alchin, who came first in 100m, 200m and 400m in the 15 year old girls’ age group.  She broke the 200m record.   Isabell was also the age group champion.
• Luka Baudewyns, who competed in five events for the day in the 18 to 20 age group, won his javelin event and went on to be the age group champion.
• Sam Staley, who won the 12 to 13 year old boys’ long jump.
• Rodolfo Gallardo, who won the 14 year old boys’ triple jump.
• Will Price, who won the 16 year old boys’ javelin.
• Latoyah Sinaki, who won the 18 to 20 year old girls’ shot put and discus.
