Our Week of Athletics and Reading

It has been the most wonderful week at Beaumaris Primary with our celebration of our love of books and a terrific day at our Athletics Carnival.

It was my pleasure to join the delightful Prep L class to read them "Pug the Pig" during Book Week. As we enjoyed the story together we chatted about our mutual love of dogs and performers, the themes of the book. I know you must love the experiences of reading with your children at home, and please know this makes such a difference to their relationship with you and their learning.

Our Book Week concluded and this morning's assembly to reflect on the week and enjoy the magnificent parade of our Preps dressed as their favourite characters from the world of literature.

Athletics Carnival

When Bron and I arrived at our Athletics Carnival on Thursday we were so impressed by how engaged and positive our students were. It was a terrific day and that sporting spirit continued right throughout. Such events are only successful if behind the scenes there is outstanding organisation and support from all. Thank you to Joe Lilburne for ensuring this was an outstanding day. Thank you also to our teachers and the many enthusiastic parents helpers who guided our students through the events.

Parent Consultation

Firstly we hope parents and carers who have been emailed details of the Parent Opinion Survey (after random selection) have had the chance to complete this. If not it closes Friday 8th September. We do value your views and reflect to improve.

We also thank those of you who attended our Parent Consultation Evening on Thursday 10th August where we discussed a variety of topics identified in our last Parent Opinion Survey. We are beginning to discuss the comments from the evening in a variety of forums. This week our education Sub-Committee looked at notes from the night in regard to Learning Support as well as Assessment and Reporting. Based on the feedback we are prioritising a review of reporting processes at Beaumaris Primary, and taking a closer look at interventions for students who need further learning support in the early years.

So Much To Look Forward To!

We hope our termly calendar has been helpful for you and will have one for Term 4 ready before the upcoming holidays.

We do want to thank our Level 1 parents for their baking for our CAKE STALL fundraiser tomorrow morning at Beaumaris Concourse. Also thank you in advance to those of you who will be supporting our school by enjoying the cakes!

Next week we celebrate with JAPANESE DAY on Tuesday, and then our dads and those who care for us with the traditional FATHER'S DAY breakfast. I have heard much about this event so really looking forward to it. Once again we have our parents and carers working hard to set up and also run the Father's day Stall.

Finally please keep in mind our WORKING BEE on Sunday 10th September. The last Working Bee was so well-attended and made a huge difference to our grounds. Next week we will send out further details and the times and tasks that you might help with.

In the meantime enjoy a relaxed weekend. See you at the cake stall.
