School Advisory Council

A message from the Chair of our SAC

As part of Catholic Education Week the Chairs of Melbourne's School Advisory Councils were invited to attend the MACS Creative Art Exhibition.  The amazing artworks on display were created by students in Foundation to Year 12 from various MACS schools throughout Melbourne, including a beautiful painting by Annie from St Peter's!

During the dinner we heard about Melbourne Archdiocese Schools' (MACS)  plans for the future to deliver their vision - that every child is inspired and enabled to flourish to enrich the world. This includes the building of 12 children's hubs co-located at Catholic Primary schools, to provide early childhood education and outside hours care. Over the next couple of years they will also be rolling out before and after school care for other primary schools, including St Peter's.

We were also blessed to meet the newly appointed auxiliary bishop Most Rev. Thinh Nguyen and listen to his inspirational story of escaping conflict in Vietnam to where his journey has lead him to today. Speeches given by both the Executive Director and Chairman of MACS were filled with gratitude.  Gratitude towards all members of School Advisory Councils for the hours they volunteer to be a sounding board for their principals to achieve better outcomes for the students.  It's clear that a school is stronger when Parish/School/Parents work together, this not only benefits the students but the whole school community.

If you would like to join our School Advisory Council, nominations will be taken next year. We meet once a term at school and it really is a wonderful opportunity to provide input towards the progress of St Peter's.
