Week 1 & 2 Updates
It’s been wonderful catching up with all the students and hearing about their exciting holiday adventures. There’s been plenty of laughter and storytelling as we ease into the rhythm of Term 2!
After a well-earned break, we’ve hit the ground running and are getting ready for a Term of instrumental lessons. There’s a real buzz in the music room as students dive back into learning.
Our Prep students have begun exploring the music stave. They’re learning to tell the difference between lines and spaces—an important foundation for using the stave. One of the highlights has been using our giant floor ladder, which has been a fun, hands-on way to help them visualise their learning. Preps have also started looking at patterns of black/white keys on the keyboard, in order to help them find D.
Meanwhile, students in Years 1–6 have been reviewing key concepts of music theory and keyboard. They’ve been doing this through a variety of engaging games like Rhythm Rocks and Theory Relay, which reinforce their musical knowledge while keeping things lively and fun. They've also been reviewing the piano keyboard and how to identify the different key
Interschool Sport
Interschool Sport will continue on Fridays this term for the 5/6 students selected. If you have any questions with match scheduling please contact Vicky at the front office.
Students will be finishing off Athletics events this term with high jump, sprinting and long distance running left. We then will be starting Netball across all year levels.
We were very lucky to have the bulldogs clinic come visit us on Thursday to play some fun games with the students. It was an awesome day!
The Western Bulldogs are giving away free membership to kids under 12, please click on the link for details.

We have had a fantastic start to Spanish this term! It has been wonderful to see how engaged and enthusiastic the students are during our lessons.
Over the first two weeks, we have been exploring and presenting new vocabulary through games and rotations adapted to each year level. We have also introduced a daily class routine that will continue throughout the year, helping students build their confidence and familiarity with Spanish.
In addition, students have started participating in "la bola curiosa" ("the curious ball"), a fun dynamic where they practise asking and answering different questions in Spanish. It has been a great way for them to interact, share ideas, and enjoy using the language.
We are very excited about the learning journey ahead!
Spanish in Action!
Our students have made a wonderful start to Spanish this term! Prep to Grade 2 have been learning basic greetings and exploring colours through fun activities. Grades 3 and 4 have been building on their greetings and starting to develop simple conversations in Spanish. Meanwhile, Grades 5 and 6 have begun working on personal descriptions, using new vocabulary to describe themselves and others.
What a fantastic start to Term 2!
Students in Prep - Grade 2 are focussing in on The Design Thinking Process and learning about creative solutions by engineers to create safe passages for animals to cross roads. We are learning the importance of animals being able to cross roads to be able to find food, water and mates. Students are using this learning to inform design decisions. I have been blown away by the fantastic ideas like adding animal scents to their design to encourage them to use their design, not cross a busy road!
Students in Grade 3 and 4 are learning about the components of board games. They have examined a range of board games and have assessed each games’ components and how this influences enjoyment. These ideas will form a strong foundation to design and create their own board games, with a focus on materials and how the properties of materials influences design choices.
Students in Grade 5 and 6 are investigating plastics. We’ve explored the history of plastic, different types, and how long they take to decompose (spoiler: it’s a very long time, even in ideal conditions). Students are using CAD software to create a game piece to print using our 3D printer. Our 3D printer filament is made using corn starch and is fully compostable! Students will analyse its use and environmental impact in coming weeks.

Welcome to Term 2 in the Art Room!
We’re back and off to a creative start! I hope everyone had a lovely and restful break!
We have jumped straight into some exciting new projects in Art.
Our Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students have been having loads of fun exploring paint in new and exciting ways! They’ve been learning how to blend colours and use special scraping tools to create shapes, patterns and textures. The highlight? They got to use their hands to paint—yes, it got messy, and yes, they LOVED it! They've also been busy designing and drawing their own monsters using oil pastels, creating amazing masterpieces on their painted backdrops. The results are just fantastic!
Our Year 3 to 6 students are continuing their exploration of Pop Art, a bold, colourful style that began in the 1950s and 60s. Pop Art uses everyday images like cartoons, food and celebrities to create fun and eye-catching artworks. We’ve been inspired by the artist Keith Haring, and students have been building on their wonderful work from last term. It’s been fantastic to see the creativity, personality and meaning they are putting into their piece. I’m so proud of what they’re creating!
Can’t wait to see what the rest of the term brings!
