Music
On Wednesday 26 March, Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School joined GSG music students for some workshop time together. Our Senior Strings, Concert Band and Jazz Bands combined to rehearse an item each. There were many smiles and laughs from students at both schools during the day. In the afternoon, we combined to present a short concert for our Year Five and two classes of Year Seven students. This was a great learning experience for our Year Five students, who have all embarked on a Concert Band programme this year. Every child in Year Five is learning a Concert Band instrument, and this was their first chance to hear a full Concert Band and see all the instruments they are learning playing together. Thanks to BCGS for coming to visit us!
Last night, Wednesday 2 April the Year Eleven and Year Twelve VET Music and Year Twelve Hospitality students presented the first VET show for 2025. This was a great night of music, delicious coffee, and muffins enjoyed by a packed house in the Hall. The Year Eleven and Year Twelve VET Music students always enjoy this opportunity to perform for family and friends.
The night featured an eclectic range of music, performed with great enthusiasm and energy, thanks to the hard work and encouragement from Mr Fowler. Well done to all the music students involved, and special thanks to Mrs McAllister and the Hospitality students for their wonderful food and hot drinks service.

Backyard Possum Encounter
Our link for collecting western ringtail possum stories and images has now closed, and we would like to thank everyone who contributed. There are some fantastic stories that will help us to start developing the puppet play. If you have a story or photo you would still like to send please forward to rachel.mordy@gsg.wa.edu.au
We had lots of fun on our Spotlight Walks looking at the possums out at night. If you are interested in participating in one of these, there is a guided Spotlight Walk being run at Barmup, Bluff Rock Reserve during the holidays as part of the WA Tree Festival. Further details can be found here:

Many thanks to Adalyn Sharpe in Year Ten for the beautiful baby possum photos that she sent through.

Sunday 6 April - Afternoon on the Knoll
The weather for this Sunday's Afternoon on the Knoll is looking right on - mid-20s and no rain! We hope to see you there to listen to Albany’s popular R&B Soul Train. They will be playing a mixture of Sunday Session-vibed covers and originals.
The gig starts at 2.00pm. It’s a free event. Bring your own food, refreshments, and something to sit on. Mini golf and other lawn games will be available for the family to enjoy while we kick back and listen to some great tracks.
Please park in the usual carparks. We are keeping the area vehicle-free. For those who aren’t sure where the event location is, please see the map below. It’s the grassy section behind the Pratten Centre overlooking picturesque Oyster Harbour.
Saturday 3 May - Dads and Kids Sleepout - at school (near the vineyard), save the date.
