Grade 6

Welcome Back!
Firstly, the Grade 5 students should be very proud of themselves for the way they have settled back into classroom routines after the holidays. We are looking forward to another great term of teaching and learning!
Literacy
This fortnight, students will continue their Core Knowledge unit on Ancient Greece and Rome. They will explore the influence of Ancient Greek philosophers and their lasting impact on society. In grammar and syntax, students will focus on identifying and creating complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions to enhance their writing skills.
Numeracy
In Numeracy, students will work on strengthening their understanding of multiplication and division of large numbers. They will develop a variety of strategies for solving multiplication problems, including the use of concrete materials, diagrams, and the written algorithm. These strategies will then be applied to division problems to build a well-rounded understanding.
Inquiry
Linking their Inquiry investigations with the Core Knowledge unit, students will delve deeper into the discoveries of Archimedes, particularly his principle of buoyancy, to expand their understanding of scientific and historical concepts.
