Grade 3

Welcome back to Term 2!
We hope everyone had a wonderful break — and perhaps even a visit from the Easter Bunny! It has been fantastic to see how smoothly the students have settled back into their routines and already engaged in some excellent learning.
Literacy Block
In literacy, students have enthusiastically begun their first Novel Study for the year: Roald Dahl’s classic Matilda. They are exploring Dahl’s incredible characters, intricate plotlines, and vivid settings, while also examining his rich use of language. This study will act as a springboard for the narrative and persuasive writing tasks students will undertake this term.
Later in the term, students will also be investigating the fascinating history of the Vikings. This unit will focus on Viking life and times and explore the stories of significant figures such as Erik the Red and Leif Eriksson.
Maths Block
In maths, students have been building on their understanding of time, including estimating time intervals and planning events based on their estimations. From this week, they will commence their first unit on multiplication and division, starting with the use of the multiplication and division symbols, before moving on to mastering multiplication facts for 10 and 5.
