Grade 1

Literacy

The Grade 1’s will be continuing their Core Knowledge unit, ‘Mesopotamia.’ They will be exploring questions such as ‘What did Mesopotamian people believe their Gods, Goddess' could do?' and 'What were Temples used for in Ancient Mesopotamia?'

During explicit phonics instruction, students will be learning to read and spell the sounds /ow/ words such as 'cloud, town, mouth, sound, down.'

 In handwriting, they will be focusing on letter ‘f.’

Numeracy

Students will learn about ordering three 2-digit numbers, subtraction facts from number bonds and 2D shapes.
