Supporting Student Learning During Extended Absences
We understand that some students may need to be away from school for extended periods (family holiday, medical events, Falls Creek Academy). Where possible absences during the school term should be avoided. The Department of Education has provided updated guidance on how we can support their learning during these times.
For any period of absence, students will be marked as either Family Holiday or Parent Choice – School Approved. If the absence is extended, the student, family, and school will work together to develop an Absence Learning Plan. This plan will outline key learning tasks and provide relevant resources to support student learning.
While work completed during the absence cannot be formally assessed due to authentication limitations, the learning plan will align with in-class activities to ensure continuity. Students will also have access to Compass, allowing them to view support materials and stay connected. A designated school contact will be available to assist families throughout the process.
