Cooler Weather
With the dip in temperatures (finally) and some rain, students often start to feel the cooler temperatures in the morning. Please make sure you are preparing for the cooler months by organising correct uniform items now. Items are available from Mount Beauty Hardware and Drapery. Students are allowed to wear long sleeve tops under their school polo T-shirt, but they must be in the school colours of navy blue or white. Multiple layers, including singlets, are the best way to increase warmth for those students that feel the cold.
The correct uniform items with the school logo are:
NAPLAN concludes on Monday and I’d like to thank the students for their willingness to participate in these tests. Overall, student behaviour was exemplary and most students tried their best when completing the tests. Well done to those students and thanks to the teachers that gave up class time to get this work done.
The End of Term 1 Progress Reports will be made available on Compass today, 21st March. These reports are completed in Weeks 4 and 8 of each term and help to monitor student learning habits in class. All students should be able to achieve working at a level of 3, the expected level. A fifth behaviour (Home Study Habits) will be assessed in the End of Term Progress Report. This assesses students’ habits relating to homework being completed and submitted on time. A copy of the Progress Report matrix, which students are being assessed against will be attached to the Compass post with the Reports today.
Conferences (formerly Parent Teacher Interviews) are being held on Wednesday 2nd April, from 4 – 7pm. This provides families an opportunity to meet with their child’s teachers, to discuss their child’s learning progress during Term 1. Ten-minute meetings are available and the bookings for these meetings will be open in Compass from Tuesday the 25th of March. If you have any problems booking, please contact the office for assistance.
These conferences provide students an opportunity to hear more about their progress in class and ways to extend themselves. As such, we strongly encourage students to attend with their families so they play an active part in the discussion about their learning.
Next week, Year 9 students are participating in the My Career Insights program! Your student will complete a series of online questions and quizzes on the Morrisby website while at school. Students that complete the online profile will receive a Morrisby report and participate in a 30 minute unpacking interview with a Morrisby-trained Careers Consultant, who will explain the report.
The Morrisby profile will assist Year 9 students to:
My Career Insights will help students discover, develop and drive their career planning. It is a unique opportunity for students to learn more about their strengths and abilities while exploring potential career options – giving them the confidence to start taking control of their future.
