SAC

It's almost the end of term 1 2025. Amazing how quickly the term goes.

On Thursday, 27th February the St Michael's SAC AGM was held. It was great to see some new faces at the meeting and hopefully those in attendance will continue and become part of the SAC for 2025.

At the AGM we discussed among other things enrolments for 2025, which are sitting at 242; our financials, which are tracking within acceptable parameters and showing another profit; and the new redevelopment which will start at the end of the school holidays/term 2.

We also touched on the MACS survey which was completed late last year and the results of the 2024 NAPLAN, (year 3 and 5 students recently completed the 2025 tests). As some of you might have already seen by visiting the NAPLAN portal, our students' spread of abilities is quite wide and we would hope that in future years the spread of abilities is smaller and tracks above the average. Once you have visited the NAPLAN portal for your child, please send through any questions.

In the survey completed last year, students, staff and parents had the opportunity to answer many questions about St Michael's community. The results within the report also compared us to like schools within the MACS stable. While we can always improve, our results indicate that as a school community our responses are inline with other like schools.

It was great to see a huge turnout at the welcome BBQ and to see the small group of students who represented St Michael's admirably in the district swimming carnival. Considering our children don’t normally swim in 50m pools and there was no prior practice sessions, the students competed extremely well.

As mentioned by Denise, the Parents and Friends group are always in need of volunteers to help with a number of events timetabled for the year. If you can donate some spare time to help out please make contact with the office. Any help is always greatly appreciated.

To all the new preps who started this year, I welcome you and your families to the St Michael's community. Hopefully your first term hasn’t been too daunting and you're enjoying your new teachers and classmates.

I would like to thank all the SAC members (some who have been serving on the committee for 5 years plus) for devoting your time again and I look forward to working with you to support Denise and all the staff to deliver a great educational experience for all the students attending St Michael's.

For those that observe Lent, I wish you spiritual strength through the Lenten period.

Finally, I would like to wish everyone a great year, enjoyable first term holidays and a Happy Easter.

Joe Greco,

Chair
