Azariah Harb at the AFL!
Azariah was invited by the Western Bulldogs to flip the coin at the beginning of last week's match. A very special honour that few can say they have done. Here is a little ditty:
She took it all in her stride,
with her dad, Paul, by her side.
Her teachers watched from their homes,
Expecting footage caught by drones.
The Bulldogs were not victorious,
But that did not dull our chorus,
Azariah, Azariah, Azariah!!
Meet the Social Justice Leaders for 2025
We are excited to introduce our Social Justice Leaders for 2025. Ela Tiknaz, Jennifer Nguyen, Jeremy Folino and Sabrina Ferando.
As a united team, we are striving towards making our assemblies more fun and engaging for the students of St Michael’s, and raising awareness about almsgiving and the ways we can support people in our local and global community.
Hi, I’m Ela. I am honoured to have been given the role of Social Justice leader for 2025 here at St Michael's Primary School!
As a Social Justice leader, I will set a good example for all of the students at St Michael’s. I will portray all of our values of being a Learner, Respectful, Responsible, and Safe. I am 11 years old and turning 12, and I have been going to St Michael’s for 7 years now.
A little about myself: I enjoy subjects like Reading and MKDA in school. I also enjoy sports like soccer, as I was recently on St Michael’s summer sports soccer team. Another sport I love is rock climbing, which I did for two years.
St Michael's is a great place to learn, make friends, and grow, and I will continue trying to be the best person I can be there.
Thank you for reading!

Hello! My name is Sabrina, and I am so grateful to have been selected as one of the Social Justice leaders for 2025! I have been at St Michael’s for almost five years and am turning 12 this year!
A little about me: I am Filipino, and I like playing the piano, ice skating, and drawing. I also cook some yummy dishes at home! I am in the Rock Band and Choir in St Michael's. I like spending time with friends and family because it makes me happy. I'll be a good Social Justice leader because I am respectful, responsible, and safe. I bring students to the sick bay at lunch if they get hurt or if they are sad.
What I like about St Michael’s is that we have camp when you’re in grades 3-6. I love camp because it’s a lot of fun and we get to spend time with friends. I like that most of the work that we do is engaging and intriguing to learn about. I especially love P.E, Art, and when I was in grade 2, Discovery.
Sabrina Ferando
Hi, I’m Jeremy, and I am so honoured to have been given the role of Social Justice leader in 2025. I have been at St Michael's for seven years since Prep.
In my spare time, I like to play sports and play games. I also enjoy spending time with my cousins. This year I'm also a part of the 2025 rock band playing the bass Guitar. I hope to keep on playing the bass guitar in the future. I aim to be a good Social Justice leader by setting a good example for younger students by being safe, respectful, and responsible, as well as a learner at school and in the community. I love St Michael’s because this school has kind teachers and it is really easy to make friends. This school also has lots of sports equipment to play with during lunchtime.
Jeremy Folino
Hi, my name is Jennifer, and I'm so glad to be a Social Justice leader for 2025.
As one of the Social Justice leaders, I am grateful to help the communities in charities. As the jubilee year is here, we can open our hearts to help each other, to make a difference in the world, and to share love and kindness.
I have been at this school for seven years. I have enjoyed MKDA, Religion, and Sports. I have also been swimming for two years and have competed in athletics for the school for the last three years. In 2023, I was lucky enough to be the main character of the leader of the mini minors for production. I am fortunate to be in this community as a Social Justice leader with a bright future ahead of me.

Leaders' Snapshot:
Here is a little snapshot of what has happened over the last few weeks.
Hi my name is Amy and I am one of the 2025 School Leaders. Last week, all the Social Justice, Arts, and School Leaders visited St Patrick's Cathedral in Melbourne's CBD. Estelle and I, as St Michael’s School Leaders, proudly carried the St Michael's banner as we walked through the cathedral. After Mass, we explored the (MACs) Creative Arts exhibition and admired the fantastic art on display, including pieces created by two of our school’s students! It was a wonderful day spent celebrating with students from other schools.
