Denise's Message

Dear Families,
End of Term
A reminder to all families that Term 1 ends on Friday 4th April at 2pm.
As we wrap up a fantastic Term 1, we want to thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in our school community. It has been a term filled with great learning, wonderful engagement from all students and plenty of fun through excursions, incursions and special activities. A huge thank you to our teachers for their dedication and care in nurturing our students, and to our parents and families for your continued partnership. Wishing you all a joyful and restful Easter break - we can’t wait for an even better Term 2 ahead!
Term 2 begins on Tuesday, 22nd April! Looking forward to welcoming you back then.
Staff News
We say farewell to two of our highly valued and much loved staff at the end of this term.
Tahlia Bogg: Tahlia leaves us as she prepares for the exciting arrival of her first child. Throughout her time at St Michael’s Tahlia has made a significant impact on the learning and growth of many children, from teaching Prep to her valuable work in the Year 5/6 space. Her warmth, dedication and care will be greatly missed by students, staff and families alike. We wish Tahlia and her partner Tom all the best for this special new chapter and look forward to welcoming her back in the future!
Stephanie Taylor: Steph has made the difficult decision to take indefinite leave from the end of this term to focus on caring for her young daughter and family. Although she joined St Michael’s only last year, Steph quickly became a valued member of our community, leaving a lasting impact through her care, compassion, and dedication to each child’s needs. While we will deeply miss her, she leaves with our love, prayers, and unwavering support. We wish Steph and her family all the very best for the journey ahead.
Abby Dionysious: We are delighted to welcome Abby back to St Michael’s as she steps into the Year 5/6 space following Tahlia’s departure. Abby was a much-loved member of our teaching team before setting off at the end of 2023 to explore the world and embark on new adventures. We are thrilled to have her return and look forward to the energy, experience and enthusiasm she brings. Welcome back Abby - we can’t wait to have you with us again!
Isabella Ye and Mimi Pickford
We warmly welcome both Isabella and Mimi to our St Michael’s community! They will be joining our Prep team as Learning Support Officers, bringing their care and dedication to supporting our youngest learners. I know you will make them feel welcome, and they are excited to get to know our wonderful students, staff, and families. We look forward to the valuable contributions they will bring to our school!
Yr 1/2SF Replacement Teacher
Stephanie’s three-day position in Year 1/2SF will be advertised, and we hope to find a suitable teacher as soon as possible. Once the appointment is confirmed we will promptly inform families. We appreciate your patience and support as we work to ensure a smooth transition for our students.
Parents & Friends Helpers
A very sincere thank you to the parents who have stepped up and offered their assistance with school activities this term. Your support has given our children the opportunity to enjoy special treats like Zooper Doopers at lunchtime and take part in fun fundraising events such as the Easter Raffle and the Hot Cross Bun Drive. We truly appreciate your generosity and involvement!
As we look ahead to Term 2, we encourage more families to get involved in the exciting activities planned. If you’re interested in helping out, please let our office staff know, and they will connect you with the appropriate parent helpers. Your support makes a real difference and we are grateful for our wonderful school community!
End of Term - Easter Bonnet Parade
We extend a warm invitation to all families to join us for our Easter Bonnet Parade on Tuesday, 1st April, at 9:00am. This is always a joyful and colorful event, and we encourage all children to get creative and design their own special Easter Bonnet. Parents and staff are also welcome to join in the fun! We look forward to celebrating together and seeing the wonderful creations on display.
End of Term Liturgy
Holy Week is a very important time in our Catholic faith. It is a time to reflect on the death and resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Families are welcome to join the Year 5/6 students praying the Stations of the Cross on Thursday, 3rd April at 12:15pm at St Michael's church.
We also invite you to join us on Friday, April 4th, at 10:15am for our End of Term Liturgy on the basketball court followed by a gallery walk in the hall to showcase students' learning about the events of Holy Week.
Winter Uniform
A reminder to all families that we begin the transition to Winter School Uniform from the start of Term 2. To assist with this, our uniform shop will extend its hours on Tuesday, 22nd April, opening from 2:30pm.
As our weather can be unpredictable, the uniform changeover period will take place over the first two weeks of term, allowing flexibility. However, all children are expected to be in full winter uniform by the beginning of Week 3. Thank you for your support in ensuring our students wear their uniform with pride!
Stage 2 Building - Tender Meeting
The Tender process has now ended and the preferred contractor has been presented to MACS and VCEA for approval. It is hoped that this process will be completed by the end of our holidays and that I will have the opportunity to meet with the successful builder in the first weeks of Term 2. Once this occurs, I will then be able to share with you all the proposed building program
