Soffia
The day started off with all of the division competitors coming to the Duncan Mackinnon athletics resort, everyone coming worried for their event. Then I put my bag down onto the steps, and went to find my friends to cheer them on as my event was not in a while. After I had some food so I wasn't hungry for my race and started to warm up and stretch, as I was stretching, the relay team was also stretching, so I gave them tips on how to stretch and for them to keep their pace the whole way.
One hour passed and I heard the announcement calling everyone to go to the track for those who are doing the 200 meter race. My heart started to pound and I began to walk towards the track. After I got there I got into my heat and I introduced myself to my competitors to find out more about them. Until it was my turn to race, I took a step towards my line and took a big breath. Then the ring went off and I started to sprint like my life depended on it. I heard my friends screaming my name and cheering for me, and before I could think I'd already finished my race. I stood there waiting for the results, scared I wouldnt get top three until I heard my name and found out I came second!
I went to get my ribbon and the Regional paper and straight away ran to my friends to tell them the news. But right after I had to cheer for the relay group as they were going on straight after me, as they ran I was screaming my heart out, hoping they'd win but sadly they didn't get top 3. Finally I packed my things and drove to the park with my friends to celebrate.
Noah
First I did a warm-up with Raph, then I had triple jump. At the start I was a bit nervous because there was a lot of boys who were jumping well and there was a massive headwind. After my first jump I felt better, and I had a great 2nd jump. I was proud to finish first.
I also did discus, but I didn’t manage to get a good throw. My last one was great but the wind pushed it out, so it didn’t count. But I am very happy to go to Regionals with Raph.
Raphael
I did a warm-up with Noah. First, Noah had his triple jump. Then it was my turn to do the hurdles. I had butterflies in my tummy because I was racing against the person who beat me at Districts.
But I beat him! I came second, only 0.03 seconds behind first place. I was so happy!
I'm really, really, really excited to go to Regionals with Noah in two weeks.
