Uniform & Hats
As the weather gets warmer we ask that all students wear the appropriate school uniform. Sunscreen will be provided in year level offices. If your child is out of uniform for any reason can they please hand in a note to the year level coordinators to receive a blue pass. All students are also reminded they need to wear a Horsham College bucket hat at recess and lunch. If students do not have a hat, they will be directed to a shaded area until a hat can be purchased. Hats are available to be purchased from Admin.
Year 11 Exams
This week VCE Year 11 students (not VM) are completing Exams. Students only need to be present for their exams during this week, however the study centre is available for students to access. Exams are compulsory.
Year 7/8 “Ripple Effect” Program
During week 4 of this term, students in Years 7 and 8 (along with a 9/10 AFL class) participated in a special incursion focusing on the impacts of racism and discrimination as part of Horsham College’s efforts to promote a positive and inclusive school environment. Former AFL player Nathan Lovett-Murray presented his story to students and encouraged them to ‘call out’ racism if they see or hear it occurring. Students watched a documentary titled ‘The Ripple Effect’ that aims to educate children to grow into adults and not use words or stereotypes to hurt other people.
Year 8 Camp
Last week, our Year 8 students had an unforgettable experience at the Queenscliff camp, where they took part in a variety of outdoor activities. A big thank you to all the staff who attended, their dedication and hard work made the camp a success. From all accounts, the overall behaviour and positive attitude displayed by the students throughout the trip was excellent. Camps like these are an integral part of the opportunities we offer at Horsham College, and require careful planning to ensure everything runs smoothly. We are grateful for everyone who made this experience possible!
Year 11 into Year 12 Headstart
Students will receive their headstart timetables this week. Please note that VM students are only required at school during Headstart on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. VCE students are Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, with Wednesday being a study day. It is important to note that this is the beginning of Year 12 classes. If students miss these classes, students will already be behind in their Year 12 courses. If there are any issues with timetables, please contact the Year 11 team for assistance.
