Year 9 News

Matthew Nield & Bec Cope | Year 9 Coordinators

Well done on returning to Term 4 with a positive attitude! It has been wonderful to see you all engaging in your classes and starting the final term of the year off on the right foot!

Values awards:

Well done to all students on your recent value awards! It is wonderful to see you being commended on upholding our school values. This week, we are spotlighting:

  • Rocco Macchia: for great response in class discussions during English!
  • Aden Jensen: for always trying so hard in Math to complete all required work!
  • Milly Pathirana: for demonstrating excellent character by completing extra duties in Cafe Foods!
  • Otto Pohlner: for showing excellent resilience and determination to improve your skills in cricket and indoor soccer!

PAT Testing:

Earlier this term, our Year 9 students completed their PAT testing during English and Maths classes. It was excellent to see our students showing commitment and resilience when completing these tests! The results will allow teachers to support each student in their learning now and into 2025.

Year 9 Camp:

It has been wonderful to hear excited chatter regarding our upcoming camp to Bacchus Marsh and Geelong from December 4th- 6th! Information about the details of the camp were shared with students and families and we are thrilled that 40 students have decided to attend and the details have now been finalised.

In the coming weeks we will share additional information about the specifics of the camp! It is going to be a wonderful way to celebrate the end of Year 9!

Congratulations to Chase for finishing 2nd in the A2 sub-junior division at the Field and Game national championships earlier this month! It is a massive achievement, well done!

Hats:

It has been excellent to see so many students wearing their school hats during recess and lunchtime over the last couple of weeks! However, we are noticing that several students regularly don’t have their hat. Replacement hats are available to purchase from the Admin Office for $20, if your student's hat has disappeared over the winter!

General reminders:

● Remember to wear your hat whenever you’re outside (or in PE)

● Ensure that you make it to all classes on time

● Ensure that you are prepared with all required materials for all classes

● Wear full school uniform (or bring a note if you are out of uniform)

● Please keep phones in your locker during school hours

Year 9 Cafe Foods

This term, the Year 9 Café Foods Students worked on Designing a Dessert project. The students were given the opportunity to select a dessert recipe of their choice that they wanted to produce in their cooking class.

The aim is to learn about the design process: this involved investigating, researching, producing and evaluating their chosen product. The students had to learn how to modify a recipe, complete a food order and create a step-by-step planning process so that they could successfully achieve the desired quality and presentation of their dessert.

Each of the Café Foods Students did a magnificent job in working independently and being prepared to show off their cooking and presentation talents.

Well done to everyone and I am very proud of your success.

 Mrs O’Connor.
