State Athletics

Well done to our students that competed in the State Athletics last Wednesday at Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park. All students need to be congratulated on their

 fantastic results.

Alexis Perkins (High Jump) – 10th place with a jump of 1.37m

Regan Smart (100m) – 11th place with a speed of 14.12 sec

Nash Charles (Tripple Jump) – 12th place with a jump of 9.70m

Regan Smart, Sophie Wheadon, Lily Simon, Phoebe Robb (4 x 100m Relay) – 12th place with a speed of 1:01.15

 

State Lawn Bowls Championships

Well done to the students who competed in the State Lawn Bowls Championships last week in Sunbury. It was a great day and the team came third overall, which is a fantastic effort. A big thanks to Josh Mitchell for his help on the day, and to the parents and grandparents who supported the day.

T-20 Cricket

On Friday 1st November, the Colac Division T-20 Cricket Tournament was held at Colac Central Reserve. We entered four teams into the competition. All teams did very well and demonstrated some excellent cricket skills. The girl’s team won their section on the day and will now compete in the Greater Western Cricket Championships tomorrow Wednesday 13th November in Ballarat. A big thanks to Russell Farquharson for his help on the day, and to the parents and grandparents who supported the day. 

We wish the following girls all the best at the Greater Western T-20 Cricket Championships – Alexis Perkins, Macey Foster, Sophie Wheadon, Natalie Farquharson, Ruby Hay, Jemma Howat, Sadie Ritchie, Asha Mahoney and Gemma Parker. The bus will leave Sacred Heart gym carpark at 7:20am. Girls will need to wear their sports uniform and their school hat. Sunscreen needs to be applied at home. Fruit, snacks, lunch and drink bottles are required on the day. We will arrive back to school at approximately 4:45pm.

Colac Division Hot Shots Tennis

Last Friday we entered three teams into the Colac Division Hots Shots Tournament at Colac South West Primary School. All teams did very well. The girl’s team were the overall winners in the ‘Girls’ competition and the boys ‘Sacred Heart Black’ team were runners up. The boys team ‘Sacred Heart Red’, just missed out on finals. 

Colac Division Golf Tournament

This Friday 15th November is the Colac Division Golf Tournament at the Colac Golf Club. The day will commence at 9:15am and finish at 1:15pm. The bus will leave Sacred Heart at 9:00am and return at 1:30pm. Students can have a lunch order on this day. A big thank you to all the parents/grandparents etc who have offered to help on the day. Can helpers please be at the golf course at 9:15am? Students who have their own gold clubs, can bring them to school, or have their parent/s take them up to the Colac Golf Club.

Prep-5 Activity Day

On Friday 22nd November, all students will participate in the Prep – Year 5 Activity Day. Each year level will travel to a different school. The following is: Foundation – Colac West PS, Year 1 – Elliminyt PS, Year 2 – St Mary’s PS, 

Year 3 – Colac PS, Year 4 – Colac South West PS and Year 5 – Sacred Heart

Our year 6 students will be the leaders of the sporting activities for all the Year 5 students who will visit Sacred Heart.

All students will travel by bus to their allocated school at 9:00am. They will return to school between 11:30am-12:00 noon. All students will need to wear their sports uniform and school hat. Please apply sunscreen before you come to school. Students will also need their fruit, snacks and drink bottle. Parents are welcome to visit the school where their child is participating in the sporting activities.

 

State AFL 9’s Football

Congratulations to our boys and girls teams who have made it through to the State AFL 9’s Football competition. The students in the boy’s team are Bodhi Baker, Max Mitchell, Jack Seuren, Hudson Oborne, Dusty McCrimmon, Brock Jamieson, Jock Melville, Zaiden Finn, Finley Geary, Brady Hickey, Kade Genua and Alfie Doyle. The students in the girl’s team are Macey Foster, Asha Mahoney, Hemi Babington, Natalie Farquharson, Ruby Hay, Jemma Howat, Scarlett Smith, Asha McNaughton, Regan Smart, Tahlia Kelly and Ruby Nowell.

This event will take place at Latrobe University (Tony Sheehan Oval). Students will travel by bus to this event. More information will be sent out via PAM closer to the event.

 

St Mary’s Summer Sport

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we never got the chance to play against St Mary’s Primary School in the Winter Sport Competition. Therefore we have decided to get together on Friday 29th November to have a sports session between recess and lunch time. The sports offered to our Year 5 and 6 students are Cricket, T-Ball, Hot Shots Tennis, Soccer, and Volleyball. Students will travel by bus to this event.

More information will be sent out closer to the event.

 

Year 5 and 6 Swimming

Our students in Year 5 and 6 will attend swimming lessons at Bluewater from Monday 9th December – Friday 13th December. Swimming is part of the school curriculum, so it is important that all the students support this program.

Name: Brayden Anson (Yr 6TR)

1. What sports do you play? The sport I play is football.

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? My favourite sport to play is football.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Football is my favourite sport because I like to tackle.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I tackled Max Meade a number of times in one game.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strengths in sport is my confidence, I am happy to have a go at every sport.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it keeps me fit and it teaches me some very valuable life lessons.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is Patrick Dangerfield.

8. Why are they your favourite? Dangerfield is my favourite player because he is a great leader at Geelong and he is very supportive to his team mates.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is the Geelong Cats.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I am a good sport who always has a go!

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was kicking a goal in the Under 14’s.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strength in sport is my speed.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because I like to keep fit and it is fun.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is Marcus Bontempelli for Western Bulldogs.

8. Why are they your favourite? Bontempelli is my favourite player because he is a good captain and leader.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I am a good football player and that I am fast on the field.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Tennis is my favourite sport because it is fun and I am quite good at it.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I got some points for my team and we won.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strengths in sport is that I am a good sports person and I am good at getting the ball.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it is fun and I like learning new skills.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is Australian tennis player Coco Gauff.

8. Why are they your favourite? Coco Gauff is my favourite player because she is a fantastic tennis player.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Soccer is my favourite sport because I get to run around a lot.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I scored my first goal in soccer.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strengths in sport is my speed and the strength I have in my legs to kick the soccer ball.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it is fun.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is Cristiano Ronaldo.

8. Why are they your favourite? Ronaldo is my favourite player because he is a fantastic soccer player.
