Prep
In Art this term the Prep students are looking at the wonderful artwork of children’s story book author, ‘Eric Carle’. Carle is the author/artist who created the well-known children’s story book like ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’, ‘The Very Busy Spider” and ‘The Bad-Tempered Ladybird’. The students are using his works of art as inspiration for their own masterpieces. In the first few weeks of this term the students have created some fantastic caterpillar collages and have worked on a weaving mat which we will transform into a Bear!
1/2
The 1/2 students started this term looking at elements of self-portraits. This year they are challenging themselves to create their own self-portraits using acrylic paint. They have looks at different ways to draw hair and facial features and then paint them.
3/4
The Grade 3/4s have been learning about the artist Vincent Van Gogh. They learnt about his life, his art and how he created his unique paintings. They used his Sunflower series of paintings as inspiration to create their own masterpieces. They used a combination of oil pastel and watercolours.
5/6
The Grade 5/6 students started the term looking at the contemporary artist Dean Russo. They learnt how he manipulates photographs to create colourful artwork. They are using photographs of themselves and using elements of his design process to create a unique and colourful self-portrait.
