Inaugural 90+ Day Empowers High-Achieving Year 10 Students

On Friday 1 November, 16 outstanding Year 10 students participated in the first-ever St Virgil’s College 90+ Day. This event was specifically designed to equip our most academically capable students with practical strategies and tips for excelling in college while fostering a space where like-minded high achievers could connect and build lasting friendships.

The day was facilitated by CET’s School Service Leader for Gifted/Extended Learning, Jacqueline Hardman, in collaboration with Mr Rohan Mitchell, Director Learning and Innovation, and Mr James Dalton, Careers Advisor. Feedback from the day was overwhelmingly positive, with students expressing that the experience was both productive and enriching.

Here are some of the things the students reported about the day:

“The matrix research template is effective and easily navigable.”

“Learning ways to achieve a good ATAR and also how to prevent a lower ATAR than expected was very useful.”

“The best thing about today was setting up folders. This made me feel prepared for the next year and gave me great tips for next year.”

“It’s great to know that there are more options to achieve a higher ATAR than just my subjects because it means I have some breathing room if I do not do as good in my regular subjects. There is something that I can rely on to push me over the 90+ ATAR mark.”

“I benefited from  learning about university courses so I can figure out what I want to do in my life.”

“I enjoyed the group session speaking on how to avoid issues within my study in Year11 and 12.”
