Deputy Principal

Mr Daniel Lapolla

Years 7 – 9

As the weeks quickly race past, our Years 7-9 students are in the thick of assessments as teachers work towards our end-of-year reports. Time within the classroom is invaluable in terms of getting on the right track and into the nitty-gritty of the task itself. Time at home should also be another avenue to further extend yourself. Getting someone to proofread your work and rechecking the task requirements and rubric to ensure you have stayed on track.

Years 10 – 12 Exam Periods

Our Years 11 and 12 TASC exams commenced this week, the culminating assessment task for each of their chosen subjects. We wish them well as they commence this journey and a reminder to arrive early at the Callan Centre with the correct paperwork in hand to ensure a stress-free start.

For our Year 10 students, this week marks the last week of normal scheduled classes prior to exams next week. We have scheduled a number of catch-up and support study sessions for our young men this week. A level of commitment is required outside of the classroom, however. Dedicating time at home to hone in and focus on the things you find challenging. A reminder that all Year 10 students will return home at the end of each day from approximately 11.30 am, as previously communicated please see key info about exams below. We wish our young men a successful period.

Monday 18 - Monday 25 November

All students will receive an Exam Study Guide which contains all information relevant to their week of examinations. Copies are also available online via student laptops through MAAS 360 and on the Student Portal Page on the College website.

Mr Michael Farrell and Mr Rohan Mitchell will meet with all Year 10 students prior to exams. During this time, we will present the students with all the required details to request an adjustment for the end-of-year exams and associated timelines. Adjustments, as in previous years, will be in-line with TASCs policies. Students will be able to request environmental, time, physical, and reading/writing adjustments. We should not be changing the content of the exam unless a student is on a modified curriculum.

The forms will be available to students from Student Services, which is where they also need to be returned early Term 4.

Buses have been organised with Kinetic Coaches for a fare of $2 to be paid upon boarding with EFTPOS available. Please see below the bus routes. The expectation is for students to go directly home to continue their exam revision. Please see the routes below.

Bus 1 – Bridgewater/Brighton/Pontville/Kempton

Bus 2 – Bowen Bridge to Lindisfarne, Eastlands, Clarence St to Shoreline, Glebe Hill, Lauderdale, Acton Road, Cambridge, via Tunnel Hill to Mornington

The next service after this is route 720 which departs from Main Road at 12.35 pm. Students will need to pay a fare or use their TransportMe card as they would do on the normal school bus.

Please see below the exam timetable for the Year 10 End of Year Examinations

Class Allocations 2025

Thank you for your feedback and engagement around the College seeking details pertaining to the class allocation process for 2025. Considerable work is being undertaken to ensure learning group allocations best meet the needs of each individual student at the College.

The College is currently undertaking a comprehensive data driven process to determine learning group allocations. Data from sources such as PAT Testing, NAPLAN, School assessment data, application to learning, student engagement and social behaviour will all be taken into consideration when determining class allocations.

Please note experience highlights that being with friends does not always support students in achieving academic success and this is not grounds for a specific allocation. The College will take all recommendations into consideration in conjunction with the data outlined above. However, due to logistical restrictions, it may not be possible to accommodate all learning group allocation requests.
