From the  Principal

Karen Roberts

It’s hard to believe we are already in week 4 of the term. Our teachers and students have settled into their learning routines well.

Our new assembly cycle proved a hit with Grade 2 parents, carers and students on Friday 26th July with students extremely excited and proud to showcase their performing talents. Our grade 2 students led the assembly and their leadership skills were extraordinary. Special congratulations to Gus, Daphne, Amanda and Henry. We also applaud the work of our Grade 2 teachers (Mr Acklom, Ms Murtagh, Mrs Scrivener, Mrs Skoutas, Miss Whitby and Education Support staff) who

prepared the students for this showcase.

100 Days of Prep and Principals’ Day Celebrations

What a fabulous day for celebrations on Friday 2nd August!

Our prep students were almost unrecognisable in their attire as ‘100 year old people’. A big shout out to our teachers and ES staff for offering the day’s activities and celebrations.

We shared in the joy dressing up in colourful t-shirts and crowns for we were not only celebrating 100 days of school; we were also being celebrated as principals. I am certainly supported well by an amazing team of leaders.

A special thank you to Miss Harley who organised loads of super cards and presentations for us on the day. We were honoured to also wear crowns.

A super thank you to our community for acknowledging our work. We felt the love and the warmth when the students visited our spaces with amazing booklets and cards, posters and special things. Much gratitude.

Student Led Conferences

Carnegie PS staff and students embraced the student-led conference format. This approach allowed our students to take an active role in showcasing their learning progress alongside their teachers. It is designed to empower students by fostering ownership of their educational journey and promoting deeper engagement with their academic growth.

We were thrilled with the number of parents who attended this annual event.

We do appreciate your involvement in our school and your children’s ongoing learning and achievement.

School Window Replacement Project

It is with excitement that I share with you the commencement date for our school’s window upgrade that will see the replacement of 386 windows across Building 2.

We will be commencing set up (scaffolding and compounding) Friday 9th August, demolition and building from Monday 12th August, with an anticipated completion date Wednesday 9th of October.

During this period, our top priority is ensuring the safety of our community and minimising disruption to learning. To achieve this, we have collaborated closely with John Lyng's Building Group to plan for the learning and safety of our students. Our Grade 6 students, teachers and specialists teachers are aware of the arrangements and we will make the transitions as smooth as possible.

You will notice the erection of a new builders’ compound (expected Start Date: Monday 5th August) that will extend beyond the current enclosure and include a skip and toilet facilities for the builders.

Our students will be informed and educated about the works with specific education offered around safety when on the asphalt. Under no circumstances should any member of our community enter the builders’ compound.

We are very much looking forward to seeing this project undertaken.

We appreciate your understanding and flexibility during this period of adjustment. While there may be some disruption, please remember that this project is intended to ensure the long-term safety and enhancement of our school environment.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
