Year 2 Potato Olympics

Year 2 have begun their new Science topic, force and energy. They held a mini Potato Olympics. Each student decorated their potato and entered them into mini-games. We discussed what force they had to use to make the bottles fall, hit a target, roll down a ramp and go the longest distance, and throw their potato into a hole.

Some bottles were empty, some were half full or filled to the top. Lots of discussion happened about what force they needed to use to successfully get the highest points.

This was a very exciting and successful afternoon!
