Olympics Celebration Highlights

Last Friday, we enjoyed a vibrant Olympics-themed day, filled with excitement and camaraderie. Our morning festivities, led by Kaboom Sports and our enthusiastic Grade 6 leaders, saw students participating in cross-level groups, engaging in a variety of fun activities. The highlight of the day was a special visit from the Boxing Kangaroo, who added an extra touch of excitement to the event. As you can see from the photos, the experience was delightful for everyone, including our dedicated teachers!

Later in the day, we had the privilege of hosting Michelle Timms. Michelle, a celebrated Olympian, attended St Bede's in  Prep and Grade 1. She brought her Olympic medals with her, and every child was able to hold a medal. Our sports captains, Jamie, Abbey, and Zoe, did an outstanding job interviewing Michelle, creating a memorable experience for all. A big thank you to Selena’s family for arranging this remarkable visit.

We look forward to more events that bring our community together and celebrate our shared enthusiasm for sports and achievement!

Safety in the Community

Recently, there have been some concerning incidents in the community where children have been approached while walking home. Ensuring the safety of our students is our top priority, and we want to address this issue with utmost seriousness.

At school, we are reminding children about the importance of stranger danger. We are teaching them to stay vigilant and not to respond to any strangers who approach them. We kindly ask parents to reinforce this message at home and have a conversation with their children about the importance of staying safe and being aware of their surroundings.

By working together, we can ensure the safety and wellbeing of our children.

Punctuality

We would like to remind you that classrooms are open from 8:30 AM, and classes begin promptly at 8:45 AM. Please ensure that your children arrive at school on time and are ready to start their day.

Premier's Reading Challenge

A reminder that the challenge finishes in 4 weeks on Friday 6th September. Please have all reading recorded in the website by Thursday 5th September to allow me time to verify all books.

Concert Workshop Day

This week on Wednesday we had our first Concert workshop day. On these special days, each class will have the opportunity to practice on our measured stage in the hall, receiving valuable guidance and feedback from Mr. Bode, our Performing Arts teacher. In addition to rehearsing, students will also be busy creating props and backdrops to enhance their performances.

Here are the upcoming workshop dates:

  • Thursday, 15 August
  • Wednesday, 21 August

If you are able to assist with props, backdrops, or any other activities, please reach out to your child’s classroom teacher. Your help will be greatly appreciated!

Looking forward to a fantastic series of workshops and an amazing concert!

Directive from the Executive Director

We have been directed by the MACs Executive Director that all staff - including permanent, fixed term, casual and CRT staff and parent volunteers - that until further notice they must not undertake any activities that would involve them working on roofs, or any similar locations where there is a risk of falling. While this directive is in place staff cannot climb on the roof to collect balls.

Thank you for your continued support.

Go the Roos.
