Learning at TPS
Hello families,
It was fabulous to see so many of you come together and celebrate the learning and success of your children so far this year. It is so important to acknowledge the small steps we take towards improvement and this was evident with our busy school last Friday.
After stopping to smell the roses however, we continue to consider what each student can achieve today, next week, this term and by the end of the year. Take a peek at our current Content Knowledge units that our students are reading and writing about.
Foundation
Fairy Tales, Fables and Rhymes
This term our Foundation students are learning about Fairy Tales, Fables and Rhymes. They are engaging in stories, exploring new vocabulary and immersing themselves in all things ‘Once upon a time!
Junior School
Mesopotamia
The Junior School has stepped back in time to Ancient Mesopotamia - The cradle of civilisation! Students continue to master the code of our language and are listening to, chatting about and writing about their new learning.
Middle School
The Viking Age & God’s, Giants & Dwarves
Middle school students have been distinguishing the difference between fact and fiction by identifying text features in both fiction and nonfiction texts. They are learning about the Vikings and the myths that their societies were led by.
Senior School
The Iliad, The Odyssey and other Greek stories
The Seniors have continued to build upon their prior knowledge of ancient Greece, enjoying some of the oldest stories ever told. They are mastering their craft of the narrative genre, including sentence level grammar and rich vocabulary.
Ask your child about their latest writing piece …
Happy learning!

Book Club
Scholastic Book Club is a service offered to students, parents and teachers. Brochures advertising a variety of books and computer software are sent home with each student, approximately twice a term.
Purchase of the books is not compulsory and there is no obligation. If you do wish to purchase any goods simply log into the Book Club site www.scholastic.com.au/LOOP and follow the prompts. All Book Club orders must be ordered and paid for via LOOP. Do not send order forms and cash to school. When the order arrives at school, books are sent home with students.
The School earns “Bonus Points” for each order which can be used to purchase new resources for the Library.
Issue 2 orders should be in by the end of next week and Issue 3 will be out early in term 2.
