Miss Marks' Message
Hello everyone!
Student Led Conferences
Thank you to all of our families for attending the Student Led Conferences. The anticipation for the Conferences was electric in the days leading up to the event and it has been wonderful to hear the feedback from our students and families!
Principal Conference
Last week, I attended the Annual Principal’s Conference in Melbourne. The theme of this year’s conference was “Leading together: inspire, learn, network”. This theme was obvious throughout the keynote presentations and workshops. I made strong connections to Dr Kirstin Ferguson’s session about mastering the art of modern leadership, and a session led by Richard Chambers regarding enhancing collaboration and psychological safety.
Values Focus
Since the beginning of this term, our Morning Messages have focused on our School Value of Respect. We have explored what Respect means across our school, both during learning times, break times and when representing the school in the community. It has been great to see so many students earn tokens, Dojo points and stickers for their positive efforts in demonstrating respect, however we have also had some students participating in Restorative Conversations when hands-on behaviour have occurred.
Parent Opinion Survey
We want to know what our parent community thinks of Teesdale Primary School. Last week, we posted to Sentral a message inviting all families to participate in the Parent Opinion Survey. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.
Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.
Sun Protection
Also in our Morning Message, we have been tracking the UV Index to support our understanding of the Sun Protection Policy. Students have noticed that although it may be wet and windy outside, the UV Index is increasing slightly each day. Our School Leaders are predicting we will need our school hats prior to the end of this term, when the UV Index reaches 3 or above.
Mr Lindsay’s Leave
Last week, we wished Mr Lindsay well as he embarked on three weeks of long service leave. We welcome Miss Walker to the Leadership Team while Mr Lindsay is away. Mr Bourke joins our teaching team as the classroom teacher in SSA.
Upcoming Events
Lastly, we are looking forward to some exciting events in the second part of this term. On Friday August 23, we invite all students (and staff!) to celebrate Book Week with us. Dress ups connected to books, characters and authors are strongly encouraged!
The Parent’s Club are also organising our Father’s Day Stall later in August and a special lunch before the end of term. You can find out more about these events in the Parent’s Club part of today’s newsletter.
Thanks everyone and take care,
Chelsey
