Production : It's a wrap

Congratulations to our fantastic Production team

With 8 sold out performances over 2 weeks, Northcote High School’s 2024 Production of “Newsies the Musical” was a wonderful success.

Based on the true story of the New York Newsboys strike of 1899, “Newsies the Musical” tells the tale of the children who rebelled against newspaper publishers Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst to fight for better working conditions and pay. Although a world and more than a century away from Northcote in 2024, our students embraced the story and characters of the Newsboys Strike with curiosity and enthusiasm.

Thanks a million, to the Production staff team for your willingness to say yes. Your generosity of spirit, skills and talents are invaluable. Many of our students have stepped into informal leadership positions and respectfully led various areas of the show and I am so grateful to you all. Thank you to Lachie, Dylan, Akira and our other year 12 leaders. Your initiative, reliability, and kindness has been outstanding and vital in ensuring that this show could indeed go on.

NHS Production students demonstrate the school values each and every time we collaborate as a community. I am very proud to be a member of this amazing group of people.

The enthusiasm and motivation of our students to learn, create and enjoy the many facets of musical theatre is inspiring and has made for a wonderful 2024 Production team. Since, February, Production students have supported each other to grow and develop their skills. To all our Production students, congratulations on “Newsies the Musical”!

Thank you too, to our audiences, for your ongoing support and for coming to see our show.
