Year 11 Physics

Harnessing the principals of impulse and momentum

In a daring demonstration of physics in action, Finn Tweedie threw an egg as hard as he could without the egg breaking. By launching the egg at a fitted bed sheet, Finn harnessed the principles of impulse and momentum to save the egg from a messy fate.

Without the sheet, the egg would experience a significant change in momentum over a short time. By extending how long the collision lasted, the average force on the egg was significantly reduced, keeping it fully intact. Year 11 Physics continues to engage and delight students wise enough to add this course to their VCE selections.
