Kinder - Where we live

In Kinder this term, our Unit of Inquiry is about homes. Our central idea is: "Where we live can determine what we live in." Over the past two weeks, students have started exploring homes and shelters. During Bush Kinder, they found natural resources such as sticks and leaves and used them to try and build a shelter for a wooden doll. In the playground, students have been working together to build houses and shelters out of connecting tiles and discussing mathematical concepts such as height, length and area.

Inside the classroom, students read the Three Little Pigs story and engaged in literacy activities such as sequencing, retelling, and dramatic play, where they explored language and demonstrated their ability to engage with the story. Students also enjoyed sharing what their own homes looked like by drawing pictures of their houses and discussing where they lived. During Christian Studies, we have learnt about the parable of the Wise and Foolish builders and learnt that it is important to build our lives with Jesus as our firm foundation.
