School Chaplain

SCC's School Chaplain

To the Southern Christian College Community,

My name is Meg Riley, and I have recently taken on the role of School Chaplain at Southern Christian College.  I have been part of the team here since the beginning of last year, as a Teacher's Assistant and as one of the staff running Southern’s Year 9 experiential learning program, QUEST.  I am excited to expand my role to include chaplaincy, as it has always been a passion of mine to feed into the lives of young people in positive and healthy ways.  While this is certainly a part of my other roles, I am excited to explore how chaplaincy will expand my ability to engage with and support our young people within a different context.

I have had six years professional ministry experience, primarily working with children and youth but also investing in adults through mentoring and small groups. I also have a Master of Arts in Christian Ministry, and my TA and guiding experience has given me great insight into the struggles and pressures faced by our young people today.

I enjoy being creative and being in the outdoors, and love to explore how these things can help our young people manage well and grow into healthier human beings. I believe being present and grounded in the world around us is an important part of being human, and when we are outside, or using our imagination in practical ways, it benefits us physically, mentally and spiritually.

Please get in touch and let me know how I can best support you and your family as part of the Southern Christian College community.  My main chaplaincy day is Thursdays, but please don’t hesitate to contact me throughout the rest of the week.  My email is meg.riley@scc.tas.edu.au.

I look forward to working alongside you in growing and strengthening our school community!
