Celebrating 100 Days of School

Yesterday, our Foundation students celebrated a very special milestone – 100 days of School!  On this special day they participated in many different and fun learning activities that related to the number 100.  The students made 100 day crowns, counted 100 fruit loops and drew self-portraits of themselves as 100 hundred year olds.

Our Foundation students came dressed up as if they were 100 years old.  It was wonderful to see some grey hair, walking sticks and glasses. They all looked absolutely fantastic!  It was such a great day acknowledging how far our students have come in their first year of primary school.

School Items

Due to an increase in costs from our supplier of school hats, bags and library satchels, we have adjusted our prices accordingly.  Every effort is made to ensure the cost is kept to a minimum. The school does not profit from the sale of these items.

Our updated prices are as follows:-

School Hats - $11.00

School Bags - $45

Library Satchels - $8.00

Everyone Belongs

The Bullying No Way: National week of action from Monday 12 August to Friday 16 August is an opportunity to make our school safer and more supportive for students. This year’s theme is ‘Everyone belongs’. It is based on the idea that when students feel like they are accepted for who they are, bullying struggles to find a place.

At Clyde PS, students will work with their buddies to complete a range of activities.

Father's Day Celebrations

This year our Father's Day picnic will be held on Friday 30th of August.  For this special event, our special guests might like to bring a picnic lunch and find an available outdoor space within the school grounds to sit together as a family, we can arrange for siblings to sit together with their special guests.  If the weather is not suitable for an outdoor picnic, then we will move the event inside into classrooms.  If you intend to come to the picnic, please notify your classroom teacher through Compass or in person.

Gates will not open before 1:30pm, as students will still be learning and moving around the school in their classes.

The Father's Day Stall will run the day before the picnic, on Thursday 29th of August. Student will have the opportunity to attend the stall with their class to purchase a gift/s for their father/special person. Gifts will cost anywhere from 50cents-$5.00. This is not a fundraising event, so the school does not make any profit from these sales.

Netball Tournament

We have our Casey Netball Tournament coming up next Tuesday 13th of August which sees 4 of our school teams competing against other schools on the day. We wish all of the teams the best of luck as they head off to Casey Stadium. This is a great opportunity for students to practise their netball skills learnt in PE, their teamwork and sportsmanship.

Library Expectations

Each class visits the library once a week.  During this time students have the opportunity to read and enjoy the books on offer with their classroom teacher and peers.  Over the past few months, it has been great to see students enjoying this new space, and being responsible and respectful during these sessions.

Our Library Expectations are:

  • Borrowed books can either stay at school for students to enjoy during sustained classroom reading time; or they can be taken home to share with families and siblings.
  • Books are borrowed for a two-week period, after this they are overdue.  It should be noted that students CAN reborrow these books to continue enjoying them!
  • Each classroom has a tub for students to place their book returns for processing.  If you do not know your child’s library day, please speak with their classroom teacher.
  • Once a book is overdue, a Compass message will be sent home to notify families.  It would be appreciated if these books were located and returned ASAP.
  • After a book has been overdue for over 4 weeks, a Compass message will be sent home to notify families.  At this stage, a $10 fee is incurred which contributes towards the cost of replacing missing books.  If the book is returned, the fee is waived.

It should be noted that to borrow books from the library, your child will need a Clyde Primary School satchel. These can be purchased from the school office for $8.00

I look forward to seeing students continue enjoying this space and the varied books on offer!

SRC News

Our Student Representative Council (SRC) have been meeting regularly with Mrs Turner, to come up with some solutions to a rubbish problem at our school.  Whilst students eat their food mostly in the classroom, canteen rubbish can end up in our outside play spaces.

The SRC have developed a reward system, where students are encouraged to pick up rubbish with tongs and a bucket, show a yard duty teacher and earn a raffle ticket.  Each Monday I will then pull out one winner from the raffle box and call them over the PA to come and collect a $3.00 voucher for the canteen. :)
