Assistant Principal's Report

Georgia Despotellis

Welcome back to Term 3! I hope everyone had a fantastic break and is ready for an exciting term ahead.

Last Day of Term 2 Assembly

I would like to acknowledge the great work of our student leaders as they facilitated the end of term assembly! The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as students, parents and staff gathered at the quadrangle.

The assembly began with a look back on the term which highlighted the great learning and opportunities our students participated in throughout the last eleven weeks. The leaders reflected on the achievements and milestones at each year level with such a creative flair! Students left for the term holidays with a sense of pride in their accomplishments and an eagerness to have some time to recharge for the learning ahead. Thank you to all our families and friends who were able to attend and join in the celebration of what was Term 2.

Beginning of the Term

On Monday we welcomed two new staff members – Mr Matthew O’Connor and Mary Ah-Young. Mr O’Connor is the new teacher for 6B and Mary is a new member of the Education Support Staff Team. It was lovely to witness the warm welcome Mr O’Connor received from all the Year 6 cohort and teachers. We are pleased to have Mary join the ES team and look forward to her being able to work with our teachers to support our students.

We also welcomed six new students to our school! Our school community continues to grow.

NAPLAN

The NAPLAN reports were sent home to families on Wednesday. It is excellent to see that the majority of our students perform in either the ‘exceeding’ or ‘strong’ categories. Please note that NAPLAN is just a snapshot and is one test on one particular day. It does not always provide an overall picture of every student’s academic ability. I encourage parents who have any questions to please reach out to your child’s teacher. School reports remain the best indicator of your child’s overall academic performance and growth over time.

Our Vision and Values

We are so excited to have set the vision for our school. Our vision of ‘Achieving Together’ is powerful and will enable every student to foster excellence in education, personal growth, sporting achievements, through the arts and community impact.

We strive to create an inclusive environment that empowers students, staff, and families to achieve their highest potential through innovation, respect and continuous learning. Together, we inspire and support each other to make a positive difference in our school, local, and global communities, shaping responsible and compassionate leaders for the future.

Our values, ‘Positivity, Respect, Integrity, Determination and Excellence’ (represented by the acronym PRIDE) collectively contribute to creating a supportive and nurturing environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally and works beautifully with our vision.

Each fortnight we will highlight one of our values. This fortnight we will have a focus on ‘positivity’. Positivity refers to embracing optimism and encouragement to cultivate a supportive and motivating environment for all members of our school community. We believe in the power of positivity to inspire confidence, resilience and a growth mindset among students, staff and families. Through fostering a culture of positivity, we aim to celebrate successes, overcome challenges with optimism, and create meaningful connections that enhance learning, well-being, and overall happiness within our school.
