Regional Cross Country - Wednesday 12th June 2024

Yuval B and Jarrod B are to be congratulated on their efforts in competing at the Regional Cross Country which was held in Hastings on Wednesday June 12.

“It was a really good experience. Everyone was very fast. I tried my best. I didn’t do too well but I am proud to have competed at a regional level.” Jarrod B (Y6)

“I was nervous before my race. I did a lot of stretches before my race. In the middle of my run, I was in the top 15 but in the last 100m I overtook two people, and I got 13th place. I missed out by one person for getting to the next level. I am proud of myself and am looking forward to the cross-country next year.” Yuval (Y4)

‘Team Vic’ Soccer Trials (Round 2)

“Before the soccer try-outs I was nervous. Everyone else there was a lot bigger and taller than me. We played 3 games. It was tough because everyone would dribble and not pass but I tried my best and I’ll try again next year.’

Winter Lightning Premiership - Friday 14th June

Australian Rules Football

Last Friday, we had our lightning premiership at Caulfield Park.

Firstly, we played Malvern Central, and we lost by 8. It was a tough game, and we gave all our effort. Next, we played Carnegie, and we won by 75 points. We really gelled as a team and started working together. We played Lloyd St next and had a good win over our archrivals by 26 points. Then we played Malvern Primary, and they were the best team we played that day. We went down by 5 goals but played well together. Our last game was against CJC, and it was a good opportunity to change the team around and give some other people some time up forward. We shared the ball around well and won the game by 100 points.

Some highlights were Patrick and Arlo’s midfield skills, Blake and Zachy’s leadership and Sam B was our rock all day down back.

It was a great day, and we were very proud of our performances.

Soccer

Gold Team

On the 14th of June 2024 the CSPS soccer teams left school to go to Lords Reserve for our Winter Lightning Premiership. We split into a blue team and a gold team. The halves were ten minutes each and both teams played 7 schools each. The first school the gold team played against was Malvern Primary whom we tied 0~0. The next team we played was Carnegie and we won 1~0. After that it was recess but shortly after we had another match. We won 1~0 against Malvern Central. Unfortunately, we lost against Lloyd Street and Malvern East followed by a lunch break. We won both our last 2 games 1~0 and 2~0 and by then the tournament was over so we left back for school.

Blue Team

On Friday we had our Winter Lightning Premiership at Lords Reserve. We got there and got straight into the games. We started off playing our first game and tied 0-0. We played again five minutes later and again tied 0-0. We played around five more games after this and tied 3 of the games, lost 1 of them and won 1 of them. In the end we tied lots of our games and didn’t do too badly. We had a fun day overall and really enjoyed it.

T-Ball

On Friday the T-ballers went down to Caulfield Park. On the boys’ team there were 11 people and we won 1 out of four games.

Everybody had a great time scoring home runs and everyone proudly represented our school by showing great sportsmanship to all the other students and staff.

Netball

On Friday, we had our Winter Lightning Premiership. We participated in a group sport, working together as a team. We played against other schools and showed good sportsmanship before, during and after the game.  We were split into 2 divisions, where we played our games separately.

Div 1 had a good day even though we lost most of our games except 1. We still played positively and always celebrated with the team. Even when people in our team got injured, we still played on and had an incredible time that we will never forget.

Div 2’s first game didn't go as we expected. We didn't get to play fairly because we all got the teams mixed up and div 1 played for us instead. All our other games went well though. We got a few wins, and our last game was our best! Overall, our team did super well, and everybody left with smiles on their faces.

We all enjoyed the day and played all our games fairly and equally; we came out with good spirit and some wins.
