Classroom Activities
Mathematics is often seen as a daunting subject, but it is also one of the most beautiful and versatile fields of study. At our college, we are committed to making mathematics not only accessible but also enjoyable for our students. Here are some exciting developments in our mathematics department:
1. Engaging Classroom Activities: Our dedicated mathematics teachers are constantly innovating to make learning math a fun and interactive experience. From math games and puzzles to real-world applications, our students are actively engaged in solving problems and discovering the joy of mathematics.
2. Individualized Support: We understand that every student has unique learning needs. Our teachers provide one-on-one support to help students grasp mathematical concepts, ensuring that no one is left behind. We believe that building a strong foundation in math is crucial for future academic and career success.
Monthly Math Puzzle - The Jellybeans Puzzle
Tom has a bag of jellybeans. He gives 1/4 of the jellybeans to his friend Sarah and eats 1/3 of what is left. If there are now 24 jellybeans left in the bag, how many jellybeans did Tom have originally?
This puzzle involves fractions and working backward to find the original quantity. Encourage the student to set up an equation to represent the problem and solve for the original number of jellybeans Tom had.
*First student to provide the answer to Ms Michelle De Boer will win a prize 😊
