Junior School Report
Term 4 in Junior School
The Junior School welcomes back all members of our community, to our final school term for 2023, term 4. We certainly had a great end to term 3, with the conclusion of our Respectful Relationships Challenge Program. My thanks to all staff who supervised the challenge activities, the Year 8 team – Mrs Wood and Mrs Sawyer, the Year 9 team – Ms Shirer, Ms Watt and Ms Marsal and of course, Ms Matthews who worked tirelessly to deliver, with her teams, an exceptional Respectful Relationships course.
I think all Year 8 and Year 9 participants will agree that a special thanks must go to Mr Corrie who closed the program with a very entertaining and fun filled Trivia Session. The students, in teams, raced to answer questions, moonwalk, do the ‘twist’, sing karaoke and win prizes. It was great and Flynn Dobson of Year 9 certainly has the moves and grooves – cleaning up the prizes for the best moonwalker and ‘twister’. I commend Flynn for stepping out of his comfort zone and embracing the moment.
Term 4 is underway, and the learning has again, taken a ‘step up’. I remind all junior school students that dedication and perseverance in term 4, will see all students complete a successful academic year. Strive to be your very best and always seek the support of your teachers and coordinators, to support your learning journey. This advice is particularly pertinent to our year 9 students who will be completing English and Mathematics examinations, later in the term, in readiness for senior school entry and development of examination skills.
During this week, the last of our Grade 5 primary school visits took place. Under the support of our Year 7 helpers, the grade 5 students participated in music, technology and science-based activities. Many thanks to our Year 7 helpers, who assisted the primary students and even participated in the activities too. Our student helpers certainly showed great leadership and upheld the school value of nurture.
Soon the sun will be shining brighter, and the summer uniform is to be worn by all students during term 4. Please refer to the College planner for an outline of the summer uniform requirements or contact your relevant coordinator. As we progress into summer, we also encourage students to maintain a sun smart approach to ensure they wear their College hat when out in the yard. Staying hydrated is important and we ask that students have a water bottle, to do so.
Once again, the Junior School Team, Mr Triegaardt, Ms Kim and Mrs Caracasidis encourage our students to be their very best and remind you that we are present to support and guide all students.
Scoresby Secondary College prides itself on providing continued support to assist students in their learning and personal growth. We encourage positive and constructive partnerships with parents and guardians, to ensure our students are inspired to be their very best. All students are expected to attend school and classes daily and any absences are to be report to the school. Parents and guardians are encouraged to contact either their students’ homegroup teacher or coordinator with any concerns or questions.
Wishing you all a great term 4.
Mrs Kiriaki Caracasidis
