Year 8 Boys Volleyball

Tuesday 12th our Year 8 Boys Volleyball team competed in the Greater Western Region Volleyball tournament.

 

Unfortunately, the team narrowly lost to Daylesford College in two set 25:23 and 25:19, they boys played some great Volleyball, never giving up and nearly taking the 1st set.

 

Well done boys on your efforts, thanks to Zane J for his outstanding coaching and to Mr Argall and Kara giving up their valuable time to take the boys to Tuesdays competition.

Year 7 & 8 Basketball

Year 7 Basketball On Tuesday the 5th of September our Year 7 Boys and Girls represented Horsham college in the Black Rangers tournament held in Horsham and Ararat, all 4 teams play exceptionally well and demonstrated good sportsmanship and teamwork during their matches. The Year 7 Boys A team had a fantastic day winning all their matches in their pool, therefore proceeding to the grand final where they versed Ararat college, their determination and ball skills pushed them over the line to win the match 29 to 15. Congratulations to the boys A team for qualifying for the Greater Western Region tournament in Ballarat on the 31st of October. Our Boys B team had an extremely enjoyable day despite not winning any match. The B team were lucky enough to get an extra game against St Brigid’s College where court time was shared evenly. Thank you to Mr Dorward and Jason Revell for taking the boys down and for coaching them! The Year 7 Girls A team had a positive day winning all their matches, their excellent teamwork and passion towards basketball helped them demonstrate strong plays therefore having a successful day, the girls will travel down to Ballarat on the 31st of October to compete in the Greater Western Region Basketball, Congratulations to the Year 7 A team. The B team had some tough competition where they demonstrated resilience and teamwork, the girls won 2 out of 5 games. The encouragement from each team throughout the day was outstanding. Thank you to Mr Bruce and Brooklyn Fraser for coaching the girls and a special thank you to Jaylen Benbow, Izabelle Mclntyre and Toby Lakin for umpiring the girls. Year 8 Basketball: On Wednesday 6th of September 2 year 8 boys team headed down to Ararat while a team of year 8 girls stayed in Horsham to compete in the Black Rangers Basketball Tournament, although the students had a day off, they still showed up with determination to play many games of Basketball. Both Year 8 boys teams had a very successful day, our A teams strength was unmatchable which lead them to verse Warracknabeal in a Grand Final, where they were lucky enough to come out with the win therefore proceeding to the next round in Ballarat on the 31st of October. The B team demonstrated tremendous teamwork throughout the day where they only just missed out on playing in the grand final against our A team. Well done to all the students that participated in the Black Ranges Basketball. Thank you Mr Bruce and Josh Beddison for coaching the year 8 boys teams. The Year 8 girls team had an outstanding day where they demonstrate smart plays and teamwork to help them win all their matches in their pool, the girls then versed St Brigid’s college in a grand final match. Our girls never gave up and kept their head high during the match but weren’t fortunate enough to come out with a win. Thank you Mr Dorward for coaching, Jason Revell for umpiring and Brooklyn Fraser for scoring.
