Thank you again to the organiser's of the Mount Beauty Writer's Festival, for arranging a visit with Australian Landscape Architect and TV presenter, Costa Georgiadis. Costa spoke to our students about many ideas, prompted by some very thought provoking questions from our students, but kept coming back to the importance of caring for nature. After school, he also gave some time to taking a walk around our school gardens. He loved our Fairy and Edible garden areas and was keen share his ideas regarding the garden areas that are still to be developed.

Congratulations to all students on their participation at last week's Division Athletics. A number of our students will also now go on to compete in tomorrow's Regional Finals, which will also be held in Albury. Good luck to Sophie, Annabelle, Dady, Eli, Rowan, Ferdi and Dylan and thank you again to families for their support.

This week, students in Years 3-6 have been participating in a Citizen Science Yeast catching experiment. The Yeast Catchers Project introduces the concept of beneficial microorganisms and fungi. Students have been collecting small natural objects and adding them to a test tube containing a growth media. After letting them sit for two weeks, the students will be able to observe any growth, which we are hoping will lead to the discovery of some new yeast species!

Next week students in Years 4-6 will participate in the Alpine Shire’s REAP (Resilience, Emergency Action Planning) Day. This will involve students participating in a range of activities led by the local emergency services, to help educate students on how they can prepare and respond in emergency situations, such as bushfires.

The Mount Beauty Amateur Swimming Club is urgently seeking new volunteers and members. Please see our community notices for further details.

Thanks to the Mount Beauty Rotary Club, our school will soon have a Peace Pole installed, as part of the Rotary 100 Down Under Peace Pole Project. The pole will display the Universal Peace Message in four languages. In recognition of the traditional custodians of land on which our school is built and the languages taught in our school, three of these languages will be English, Dhudhuroa and French.
