News from the Deputy Principal

Over the last 7 weeks, I have been adventuring with my family through our beautiful country.  Over this time, I was lucky enough to enjoy some of the best landscapes, tropical forests, wild animals and the greatest beaches the East Coast of Australia has to offer.  We also were lucky enough to have spent some time in Papua New Guinea, where we were greeted with great cultural demonstrations, arts and crafts, beautiful coastal beaches and tropical rainforests.

During our visit to Papua New Guinea, I went into some local schools and met some children who were very eagerly learning English and Maths. It was great to see and appreciate the value of learning in such a poor area of the world.  Below are some pictures of the children and schools that we visited.

A big thankyou to Lisa Bourke for her fantastic work while I was away from school, looking after my role as Deputy Principal.

Think U Know

Our school will be hosting a ThinkUKnow presentation in November and all parents, carers and teachers are encouraged to attend.

ThinkUKnow Australia is an evidence based education program delivered nationally to prevent online child sexual exploitation.

ThinkUKnow Australia is a partnership between the Australian Federal Police, Microsoft Australia, Datacom and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. The program is delivered in collaboration with policing partners New South Wales Police Force, Northern Territory Police, Queensland Police, South Australia Police, Tasmania Police, Western Australia Police, as well as Neighbourhood Watch Australasia.

The presentation will be delivered by a local law enforcement member and an industry volunteer. The presentation is pro-technology and addresses topics including self-generated child abuse material, online grooming, sexual extortion, and importantly encourages help seeking behaviour.

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to learn more about young people and the online environment, and how you can help them to be safe and responsible users of technology.

For more information, you can visit www.thinkuknow.org.au

When a date is confirmed, families will receive an email and a Google Form to be completed in regards to confirmation of attendance.

Upcoming PSG Meetings

Our final PSG meetings for the 2023 year will be coming up in the first week of December. Due to Term 3 having limited meeting times, we will be signing off on all students currently under NCCD funding.

The proposed dates are in the week of Monday 4th December to Friday 8th December.  When we are closer to the dates, emails with booking information and confirmation of these dates will be sent to families who require these meetings.
