Middle School News

Year 7 to Year 9

Middle School Update

The Secondary community has certainly been abuzz with numerous events this term. For a school that is very much still in its infancy, a Term 3 calendar reflection reinforces that Salvado students are afforded many opportunities to embrace learning beyond the classroom’s walls. Whether it be through this week’s HASS and Art excursions, our Year 7 excursion to the New Norcia, the Spiritual pulse of our community, students’ participation in Christian Service Learning and various incursions, embracing their ‘inner-child’ during Book Week, lavishing love upon the special men in their lives for Father’s Day, our representing the College in the Creative Edge Challenge, many of our students have shown admirable commitment to their growth this term. We look forward to acknowledging a number of these students during our Middle School assembly on Thursday afternoon next week.

Of course, for events such as the above to occur, the College’s staff put numerous hours into catering for their students. We thank all secondary staff, teaching and non-teaching, for their commitment to our students.

New staff welcome

This week, we have welcomed Miss Megan Miller to the Secondary community. Miss Miller, excited about working with our students, has assumed Mr Meynell’s teaching responsibilities.

Year 9 2024 Subject Selections

This week, students in Year 8 have been provided with a weblink for their 2024 Electives. Last week, they also received a Handbook which provides a synopsis of each subject on offer. With an exciting breadth of subjects on offer, our students are certainly very fortunate. Students are reminded that when choosing their subjects, they should pursue courses they are genuinely interested in, rather than selecting similar courses to their friends.

Uniform Expectations

With school holidays on the horizon, students are reminded that by being a Salvado Catholic College community member, they are expected to abide by uniform guidelines. It would be appreciated if all families could please work with their children to ensure that when they return refreshed for Term Four, all students appear neatly attired in the summer uniform, fully complying with all aspects of the College’s Uniform Policy.

Secondary School Assessment and Reporting Guidelines

Families are reminded that Salvado Catholic College’s Secondary School Assessment and Reporting Guidelines align with policy mandated by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA). All secondary teachers have made this document visible on their SEQTA cover pages, and the document is also on the College website. It is very important that families fully consider this document in advance of booking any vacations during term time, as unauthorised attendance will impede student academic progress.

We wish all members of our College community a safe, happy and restful holiday.
