Boronia Group
Term 2 2026
Term 2 has been filled with exciting learning experiences, exploration, and meaningful Boronia group connections!
Throughout the term, the children observed and discussed the changing seasons. The yard was initially filled with beautiful autumn colours, and children watched with curiosity as the leaves gradually fell from the deciduous trees.
As we move into winter, we have continued conversations about weather changes and seasonal differences. One of our highlights this term was our Mother’s Day / Special Persons Afternoon, where families joined us to spend quality time together exploring activities both inside the room and throughout the yard. It was wonderful to see children proudly sharing their learning environments and enjoying special moments with their loved ones.
We also participated in the ROAR Body Safety Incursion, which provided children with age-appropriate learning opportunities to develop an understanding of body safety, personal boundaries, and trusted adults.
The children have shown a strong interest in creating their own mini volcanoes, experimenting with cause and effect while exploring simple scientific concepts. Another engaging learning experience this term has been the use of the overhead projector, which has sparked curiosity, creativity, and experimentation as children explored light, shadows, colours, and projection in new and exciting ways.
Imaginative play has flourished through ongoing interests in mermaids, seashells, and sea creatures, inspiring storytelling, creative arts, and sensory exploration activities. Construction experiences have remained popular, with children working collaboratively to build elaborate block structures, marble runs, train tracks, and road systems for cars.
Role-play investigations have also been a focus, with children exploring community roles through dramatic play experiences including veterinary clinics and post offices. These opportunities have encouraged communication, problem-solving, and social collaboration.
We hope everyone enjoys some lovely downtime over the holidays, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back for Term 3.
