Acting Principal's Message

Welcome back to school. How are we already in term three?
It has been lovely to see our students coming back to school with smiling faces, ready to continue on with their learning.
The first Tuesday back, staff participated in Protective Intervention Training where we reviewed department policy on seclusion and restraint as well as successful de-escalation strategies. This was a fantastic opportunity for staff to build on their strategies that help students when they might be overwhelmed by complex feelings. It was a wonderful session and we were very lucky to be a part of this.
It has been a wet and cold start to the term, please remember to pack jumpers and coats, pants if students have them at home. The classrooms are warm but outside play is very chilly! If you need some more uniform, please contact the office. We also have second hand uniform and a lot of clothing in our lost property that hasn't been claimed.
The preps celebrated 100 days attending school last week. It has been wonderful to see the next group of students adjusting to our George Street values and moving ahead with lots of new learning. Some of the student dress-ups were hilarious!
Thank you to all the families who have supported the school in becoming compliant with department policy in relation to the administering of medications. Please remember to send medications with a pharmacist label with name, medication and dosage. The school will contact parents to administer any medications that do not come to school with this labelling. A pharmacist will be able to assist you in this.
This is a short term, only nine weeks. We will finish the term with parent-teacher interviews. However, if you have participated in SSG's this year, you will be contacted in the coming weeks to schedule these meetings. If you have any concerns about your child's learning or wellbeing needs, please reach out to the classroom teacher.
