Last Friday was yet another wonderful event, as we celebrated our annual ‘Feast Day’, the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus at our Parish Mass, where we celebrated the love and compassion of Jesus. It is celebrated nineteen days after Pentecost, on the Friday after Corpus Christi and is also a celebration of our Parish Feast Day. It is a reminder that by belonging to our parish faith community we celebrate our faith as God’s people.

Father Michael led us in a beautiful Mass, reminding us that Jesus loves and cares for us all, so very much. Father Michael shared with us the parable of the lost sheep, where the shepherd leaves his flock of 99 sheep, to go and search for the 1 lost sheep. When he finds the lost sheep, he rejoices and carries the sheep home to be with all the other sheep. The shepherd is so happy that he found the lost sheep, that he calls all his friends and they all celebrate that the lost sheep has returned, and has been saved. Father Michael explained to everyone that the shepherd in this story is Jesus, who our school of Sacred Heart is modelled on.

We are blessed to have Jesus as our model here at Sacred Heart Kew. We strive to model ourselves on Jesus every day, by having love and compassion for others, thinking of those less fortunate than ourselves in different ways. In the lead up to our Feast day, our collective love and compassion for others led to generous donations of many bags of groceries and essential items for the Brigidine Asylum Seekers Project, which were gratefully received by Sister Bridget and all those in need.

A special thanks to Mrs Richardson for all her organisation of our Feast Day Mass and for sourcing those delicious heart shaped cookie treats for everyone to enjoy. Thank you to all our families who kindly contributed to the Food Drive to support the Brigidine Asylum Seekers Project this year. Your continued generosity, kindness and compassion is very much appreciated. Thank you also to Kristopher Brown for donating several reusable shopping bags from Woolworths to help us transport the grocery items and thanks also to Vince Privitelli for loading up his car, transporting all of the grocery items to the Brigidine Asylum Seekers Project in Albert Park last week.
