Grade 6

Electives

An important goal we work towards throughout Year 6 is preparing our learners for their upcoming transition to high school. We encourage and support all students to develop their independence, self-sufficiency, and ability to thrive in any learning environment.

To support this transition, our Inquiry focus for the second half of Term 2 is designed to give students a taste of high school. As part of our Electives unit, they choose a different learning activity to explore each week. This approach gives them a sense of autonomy and the chance to work with various teachers, in different learning spaces, and alongside a new mix of peers each time.

It has been wonderful to see smiling faces and engaged learners as they move their bodies in a high-intensity boot camp with Mr Osborne, practise mindfulness through guided drawing with Mrs Deed, explore their creativity in a poetry writing session with Mrs Jones, develop their critical thinking and decision-making skills in a spirited game show competition with Mrs Harwood, or build their collaboration and teamwork skills through board games with Mrs Gibb.
