Hello from 5T

We have had a very busy and productive term in 5T. In the classroom we have been studying the novel Warhorse by Michael Morpurgo. The story tells the story of Joey, a horse that is sent to the battlefields of World War 1, and the role he played in helping the soldiers on the Western front. We looked at the more complex vocabulary and literacy features, such as figurative language and onomatopoeia. We used this amazing text as a springboard to write well-structured narrative pieces.

In Mathematics, we built our understanding of fractions, decimals and percentages. The use of addition and multiplication skills were used in many hands-on activities on the concept of area and perimeter. The growth in these areas have been very pleasing.

Outside of the classroom we have enjoyed a wonderful experience at Forest Edge camp. It was excellent to see that all the students presented an outstanding attitude to trying new things and ‘had a go’ at the more challenging activities. We also have had a great time in the Food Science room and have been lucky enough to enjoy some fabulous recipes. Thanks to Laura for all her efforts!
