Term 3 Week 2 - 1st August 2025
Welcome back! We hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday break and that the children are feeling refreshed and ready for another great term of learning.
Term 3 is always an exciting part of the school year, and we have lots of wonderful events and opportunities coming up for our students and school community. Some highlights to look forward to this term include:
- Book Week
- School Disco
- Parents’ Trivia Night
- Father’s Day Stall
- House Athletics Day
Alongside these events, we’ll continue to build on the children’s learning across all areas, with a strong focus on literacy, numeracy, and developing social and emotional skills. We’re also encouraging growing independence and resilience as we move through the second half of the year.
Thank you for your continued support – we’re looking forward to a fantastic Term 3 together.
Literacy
This term we will be focussing on procedures and scientific reports. The lessons will be filled with explicit teaching to the elements of a scientific report such as a title, question, hypothesis (Prediction), materials, procedure, Results and conclusion .
During the week the Preps went on a material hunt in the BER building and looked for hidden materials that may be used in an experiment. They also conducted their first experiment of ‘fireworks in a jar’ and with support wrote their first procedure. As the weeks progress they will become more independent in this genre of writing.

Maths:
Over the past two weeks in Maths, we’ve been revisiting and consolidating previously taught skills. Our main focus has been on counting forwards and backwards to 20 (and beyond for some students), as well as matching number names to numerals. We’ve also been working hard on correctly writing our teen numbers, with an emphasis on starting them with the digit 1 first.
Each lesson, we have also been practising number formation to ensure students are developing strong number-writing habits. The students are making great progress and showing increased confidence with their numbers!
Inquiry/Science
This term in Inquiry, we will be exploring Indigenous culture, with a focus on the connections First Nations people have with place and Country. Students will learn about the importance of land, storytelling, symbols, and traditions, and how these elements are deeply connected to identity and community. Through stories, and class discussions, students will begin to understand and appreciate the rich history and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
