Waste Audit 2024
On Thursday 5th December, several students from year 3, 5 and 6 were involved in an Incursion with a Pia Wrafter from Ceres -Centre for Education and Research in Environmental Strategies - who guided us through a school waste audit. The waste audit is part of the ResourceSmart Program Core and Waste modules that St Mary’s are working towards completing.
Conducting the audit has allowed us to examine all waste within our school. The students enjoyed working in groups, understanding how to sort waste into the correct bins and through their findings have brainstormed some action plans to help us to better sort in the future. The students are to be commended for their leadership skills, they showed great enthusiasm and care for our school and the environment.
Some Action plans will be to create larger visual signage for our classroom bins and to encourage classes to use both sides of paper
