This year the role will be divided amongst Jodie Bishop, Kim Fitzpatrick and Jamie Daff.

Ms Bishop will join the Leadership team, and will complete planning for the Year 7 camp and students transitioning into the College.

Mr Daff and Mrs Fitzpatrick will conduct SSGs meetings and formulate the associated documentation. They will also follow up on student behaviour and oversee curriculum.

Staff are readily available to discuss questions or concerns that may arise throughout the year. Contact can may made through Compass, in person or through phone contact via the Office.

Year 7: Jodie Bishop & Anthony Zudetich

Year 8: Meaghan King & Declan Ryan

Year 9: Peter Rathjen & Chelsea McCallum (Tuesday & Wednesday)

The 7-9 staff send a warm welcome to all students and families to the 2025 school year. In particular we welcome our 13 Year 7 students. We have many exciting learnings planned, so are looking forward to the year ahead.

Year 7 Students

Thirteen students began their journey into secondary schooling last week. We hope they will gain many positive experiences in these initial weeks to remember long into their lives.

Term One is off to a flying start with our new Yr 7 students quickly finding their feet in a new setting. The Yr 7's will be heading off on their Boort Camp next Wednesday where they will have the opportunity to get to know each other and many of the teachers a little bit more. A big welcome to our new students that are starting in other classes also. We all hope you find Charlton College to be the terrific place we know it to be.

Don't forget that our House Swimming Sports takes place this Friday. All students are encouraged to attend and to wear their house colours - yellow and green for Calder, blue and purple for Avoca. Fancy dress makes the day start off with smiles and will help win points for your house too. Remember to wear a hat and long sleeve shirt if possible as it is likely to be a scorcher of a day.

Specialist Classes

The following timetable outlines when students have Sport/PE and Technology days. Students are to come to bring their sports uniform to change into on the days they have Sport/PE and they may require specific footwear or items for technology classes.

Hats

Students are required to have hats as outlined in our Sun Smart policy – no hat, no play. Hats are available through the office. All new students are given their first hat by the College Parents Club.

Uniform

Charlton College has a school uniform which is available for purchase through the Charlton Newsagency.

If parents are finding it difficult to supply children with the correct uniform please contact your child’s TA or Jess McGurk for assistance. The college also has a second hand uniform shop with quality items at $2 a garment. Contact Heidi Gibbeson at the college to arrange a time.

Name It PLEASE!!!

Please name all clothing and lunchboxes clearly as it helps us reunite missing items to its owner.

Student Attendance

It is important that students attend school regularly. In the past we have had students take a day off here and there to go shopping or visit someone. These days quickly add up and greatly effect learning. Research tells us that students who are absent from school for more than 5 days a month put their learning at risk.

We realise absence is unavoidable, as students often get sick, and the best place for them during this time is at home to allow them to get well and reducing the spread of illnesses. It is important that student attend on all other occasions.

If your child is away for whatever reason, please let the College know via the Compass App (see details at the start of the bulletin) or call the Office, otherwise the school will make a contact phone call to establish the nature of the absence.

The school has to code absences in various categories.

If a student is absent for more than 3 days, Advisory teachers will contact parents to see if work is required.

Should students be away they should check in with their teacher for any work missed and catch up at home.

School Supplies

It is important students commence the year with the requirements listed on the booklist sent home last year. Please chase up anything outstanding as soon as possible, and contact the TA if you have had problems getting what is needed.
