Art for Term 1

The students have enthusiastically begun the term with a growth mindset in art. They have been reading the book Beautiful Oops by Barney Saltzberg which shows how a mistake can be turned into something beautiful. This is a three week project where the students work on a piece of artwork already worked on by another student each week. They are manipulating a range of media: watercolour paints, coloured watercolour pencils, pastels and black Sharpie pens.

For the anthropomorphic animals project, the students will also learn how to draw animals using greylead, rendering with coloured pencils, and adding detailed line work with fineliners.

They will also explore a range of artists, using pastels and acrylic paints with a focus on colour theory; mixing tints, shades, secondary and tertiary colours.
