What a Shrektacular Success...
Our Shrek Jr. production was a true show-stopper.
From the opening scene to the final bow, our students lit up the stage with confidence, humour, and heart. I couldn’t have been prouder watching them perform, their energy, teamwork and joy brought so much emotion to all of us.
A huge thank you to Mrs Peta Murray, our director, for her creativity and dedication, and to Dr Ian Nisbett, our musical maestro, whose expertise and enthusiasm brought the music to life. With two casts performing, it was wonderful to see so many students have the chance to shine and support one another.
Special thanks to the staff at Great Ryrie, our amazing vocal teachers, the parent volunteers and also to the Murray family-Brett, Taylah, and Lucas for their incredible behind-the-scenes support.
Congratulations to our talented cast and crew for reminding us all to be proud of who we are, embrace our individuality, and always let your freak flag fly!

Stop the press!
I’ve just returned from the Hoop Time Regional Championships, and our Boys Team has qualified for the State Championships this afternoon.
A huge congratulations to the team and to Mr G for their fantastic effort and teamwork.

School Review Update
This week marked the beginning of our School Review process, an important opportunity for Great Ryrie Primary School to reflect on our achievements and set goals for the next four years.
On Day 1, our reviewer and panel members were extremely impressed by our school, commenting on the enthusiasm of our students, the positive atmosphere across classrooms, and the consistency of teaching and learning delivery. They also noted the range of extra programs we provide to ensure every child is supported to thrive.
The School Review process is a key part of improvement planning for all Victorian government schools. The review panel includes the reviewer, the Principal, our School Improvement Team, the Senior Education Improvement Leader (SEIL), the School Council President, and invited challenge partners. Together, the panel explores how well the school is achieving its goals, identifies areas of strength, and develops the next School Strategic Plan (SSP).
The process involves classroom observations, focus groups with students, staff, and parents, and analysis of learning data. Through these discussions and observations, the panel builds a clear picture of what makes our school great and where we can continue to grow.
We look forward to welcoming the reviewer and panel back for Day 2, where they will continue to see more of the wonderful learning, teaching, and community spirit that make Great Ryrie such a brilliant school.
Supporting Student Wellbeing
Next term, we’re looking forward to our Monty’s Colour Fun Run on Thursday 23rd October, raising funds to upgrade our playground.
We’re also excited to launch a Fresh Fruit in Classrooms initiative, providing students with access to healthy snacks throughout the day thanks to Foodbank.
For more details, please visit the Wellbeing and Fun Run pages in this newsletter.
Farewell to Mrs Rice
After many wonderful years at Great Ryrie Primary School, we say goodbye to Lauren, who is taking on a new challenge in a special education setting.
Lauren has contributed so much to Great Ryrie in her time here. She has been a classroom teacher, Literacy and Maths Leader, EAL Leader and Assistant Principal.
In every role she has taken on, she has given her best, whether it was leading teams, supporting students, or stepping in to help wherever needed. Her love of learning and her commitment to doing what is best for students have been at the heart of everything she does.
Lauren has been instrumental in supporting our English as an Additional Language students and families. Her work in this area has helped so many children build confidence, connection, and success at school.
Beyond her professional contribution, Lauren has been a much loved member of staff. She brings energy and laughter to every space she enters and takes a genuine interest in everyone around her.
Lauren, thank you for your dedication, kindness and the positive influence you have had on so many students. Great Ryrie will not be the same without you, but we wish you every success and happiness as you take on this new chapter.
Enjoy the sunshine on the weekend with your family and friends
