Shrek Jr. – What a Truly Ogre-Whelming Success!

We went big this year… bigger than ever! A big-name show, a huge set, and a crazy number of costumes. Over 2,000 pieces — and honestly, I stopped counting somewhere around the point where the ogre ears started multiplying on their own!

As I stood there on performance night, looking out at all those smiling faces — both on stage and in the audience — I couldn’t help but feel so incredibly fortunate. I have a job that makes me smile and laugh every single day. The joy, the creativity, the chaos — it’s all worth it when you see the magic these kids create on stage.

Productions like this are so much more than just singing, dancing, and acting. Through experiences like this, our children learn teamwork, resilience, problem-solving, responsibility, and empathy. They discover the importance of showing up for others, of working towards a shared goal, and of being brave enough to step out of their comfort zone — sometimes literally into the spotlight. These are life skills that will stay with them forever, no matter where their journeys take them.

Of course, a production of this scale doesn’t happen without an incredible team behind it. From our talented staff and tireless volunteers to the families who helped with costumes, makeup, sets, and encouragement — thank you. Your time, creativity, and support have made this production possible.

It’s been big. It’s been bold. It’s been beautifully bonkers. And honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. (And yes — I now promise to put an end to all of the cringy Shrek puns!)
