Year 7

Term 3

Since our last newsletter, our Year 7 students have embraced a wide range of academic, creative, and community opportunities.

Students involved in the Academic Program represented the College at the Tournament of the Minds competition held at Edith Cowan University in Joondalup. Their teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills were on full display, and we are incredibly proud of their efforts.

In the performing arts, our talented Year 7 dancers took to the stage as part of our annual Dance Night, impressing audiences with their enthusiasm and creativity. Meanwhile, visual arts students were thrilled to see their work exhibited as part of the Creative Arts Exhibition, a showcase of student talent across the College.

This term also marked a significant moment for our College community as we welcomed new students and families for 2026 to our Information Evening. A heartfelt thank you goes to Layla Boulter and Sebastian Guinto, two of our Year 7 students, who delivered thoughtful and entertaining speeches about their own experiences at St Norbert College. Their words gave our future students a valuable insight into life at the College.

We’ve also completed placement testing for our incoming 2026 cohort since our last newsletter, and preparations are well underway to support a smooth transition for our future Year 7s.

Another highlight this term was the creation of the Caritas Garden of Peace by students from both Climate Canons and Student Ministry, an initiative promoting sustainability and reflection. Special thanks to Year 7 students Neha Kanaparthi and Caitlin Nichols for their leadership and involvement in this meaningful project. Many thanks also to Miss Danielle Pisconeri for the fantastic work she does with the Climate Canons and the opportunities she creates for our students. We are so very blessed here at the College to have so many wonderful staff members who give so much of themselves to create ongoing opportunities for the development of our students.

Looking ahead, our Year 7 students are now preparing for their next exciting challenge, performing as part of the Year 7 Choir for Presentation Night in Term 4. Rehearsals are well underway, and we look forward to seeing their hard work come to life on stage.

Pastoral and Wellbeing Support

We know that Year 7 is a pivotal time for emotional and social development. Our pastoral team has been working closely with students to support their wellbeing and to promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment. The success of our recent “R U OK? Day” was a highlight, with activities that helped students learn more about resilience, kindness, and caring for others

It’s been a wonderfully busy term, and our Year 7s have continued to grow in confidence, capability, and community spirit. I would like to thank our dedicated staff, supportive families, and of course, our students, for making this term such a success.

Wishing everyone a restful and rejuvenating break, you’ve earned it!
